Renshaw’s ton anchors Australia’s recovery – After winning the toss and electing to bat first, Australia weathered early turbulence to post a challenging 294 in the series opener. The innings got off to a shaky start when opener Travis Head departed in just the second over to Brad Evans. However, skipper Mitchell Marsh looked in sublime touch from the very first ball, stabilizing the innings alongside Cooper Connolly in a brisk 50-run partnership for the second wicket. While Marsh was eventually dismissed for 36, courtesy of a sharp catch by Brian Bennett, and Connolly fought his way to a vital half-century, the star of the show was Matt Renshaw. The left-hander anchored the middle order with a magnificent 109, perishing only in the final over after propelling the visitors to a formidable total.
